LIVING IN FORT COLLINS
Fort Collins is a larger medium-sized city located in the state of Colorado. With a population of 164,207 people and 46 constituent neighborhoods, Fort Collins is the fourth largest community in Colorado.
Housing costs in Fort Collins are among some of the highest in the nation, although real estate prices here don’t compare to real estate prices in the most expensive communities in Colorado.
Fort Collins is a decidedly white-collar city, with fully 86.96% of the workforce employed in white-collar jobs, well above the national average. Overall, Fort Collins is a city of professionals, sales and office workers, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Fort Collins who work in office and administrative support (11.71%), sales jobs (11.63%), and management occupations (10.92%).
Also of interest is that Fort Collins has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.
Fort Collins is made interesting by being both a reasonably big city and having a major college student population: students here will find that the city provides a lot of amenities, culture, and opportunities for them. Fort Collins is more than just a college town, however, though the thousands of students certainly are a major part of the character of the city, as well as a contributor to the local economy.
Although the majority of commuting trips in the city are by private automobile, Fort Collins is somewhat unusual for a city of its size for having a substantial number of people who use public transportation. For a lot of people, the bus helps to get to and from their jobs every morning, which benefits everyone in the Fort Collins area by reducing both traffic and air pollution.

Fort Collins is one of the more educated communities in America, with a full 53.43% of its adults having a college degree or even advanced degree, compared to a national average across all communities of 21.84%.
The per capita income in Fort Collins in 2010 was $30,680, which is upper middle income relative to Colorado and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $122,720 for a family of four. However, Fort Collins contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.
